Reason for meeting: Dr. Kitts, the expert advisor reviewing the Niagara Health System Hospital Improvement Plan and his team heard from speakers on the importance of keeping the Douglas Memorial Hospital open. As the meeting was restricted to two hours, the Mayor's Task Force, including former Mayors Wayne Redekop and John Teal, asked a cross-section of our community to be key speakers at the event. Petition - a community petition was circulated in over 50 locations throughout the Town to save the hospital and was presented at the Public Meeting - 14,135 signatures were collected and copies were presented to Dr. Kitts at the event.
